What is Rendering?
Rendering is a technique where a mixture generally containing cement, sand, water, and lime or clay is applied to walls, achieving a smooth or intentionally textured surface. This technique is responsible for some of the most beautiful sights in the world, including the famous whitewashed Greek homes. Rendering is generally performed on brick or concrete walls, but new methods can also see it performed on other surfaces. While a very traditional technique in Europe, it is also found on modern buildings in Australia.

Acrylic rendering is a form of rendering where the rendering mixture also includes a type of plastic called acrylic. The additional acrylic makes the rendering mixture stronger and more flexible than traditional rendering mix, and less likely to crack.

Polymer rendering mixture was created to achieve a rendering mix that has a higher ability to bond with surfaces than traditional rendering mixture. The addition of polymer makes the mixture extremely adhesive, making it the ultimate choice for difficult jobs.

While modern methods and mixtures of rendering have their benefits, the traditional concrete rendering mixture and method remains extremely popular. Traditional cement rendering mixture is made up of cement, sand, water, and either lime or clay. This mixture can be applied to rough surfaces such as brick, stone, concrete blocks, or painted walls after they have been prepared. Cement rendering was created to smooth out the finish of these surfaces and create an even texture but can also be used to create stylistically textured surfaces such as a stippled or stucco finish.
